Not Only Is It Winter But I Got To Enjoy It!

ok, we live in the Northeast. Yes, along the coastline, but still, we get cold.

It snows, rains, freezes, blows... all of that. I've been "in it" my entire life.

And I love... at least when the opportunities to get out announce themselves.

Today was one of those days when I could enjoy the outdoors a bit, during lunch.

Cross country skiing through the Pine Barrens... does it get better?

It's Winter

and the birds know that a big storm is coming.

If you don't know then you don't live in the Northeastern United States since that's the only thing local weather dudes and dudettes have been talking about since last week.

I have a new camera so will hopefully be posting better pictures. Soon, I hope as I'm still a neophyte and my photos look *slightly* better than cell phone pics, at this point :)

Another Surkin Merkin

But this time tied with the "right" materials :)

Interesting to note that out west, they've started tying and fishing this in PINK, and found very effective for Corbina.

If I can find a good kingfish/spot bite, I'm going to try various versions of this.

A couple of mole crabs I tied

first attempts at both patterns: 1. M. saxitalis pattern for the mole crab:

Emerita talpoida

2. The Surf Merkin... a pattern used for Corbina out on the 'left coast' but one, I think, which should catch fish here as well!
