The Wing Dam

Since this is Shad month on the Delaware River, it's time to give out directions to the famous: "Wing Dam"

On the NJ side of the Lambertville-New Hope bridge there is an old Railroad Station which has been converted into a restaurant and is on the downstream side of the road. Drive through their parking lot and follow the dirt road to the end (you will pass the sewer plant). This takes you to the wing dam. If you can stand the aroma, fish are sometimes caught in the warm water discharge of the sewer plant.

Not sure how the Shad would TASTE though... (however, some feel Shad aren't a great eat anyway...)

Full directions to Lambertville from PA are:
95 N TO WASHINGTON CROSSING, NEWHOPE EX ,AT THE END OF THE RAMP GO LEFT YOU WILL BE ON TAYLORSVILLE RD TO LEFT ON TO RIVER RD RT 32 STAY ON RT 32 RIGHT IN TO NEWHOPE AT THE LIGHT IN NEWHOPE THERE IS A STARBUCK'S ON THE LEFT AND A DUNKIN DONUT'S ON THE RIGHT. TACE A LEFT AT THE LIGHT OVER THE BRIDGE IN TO NJ.MAKE THE FRIST LEFT AFTER THE BRIDGE AND KEEP GOING TO THE PARKING LOT IN FRONT OF THE CANAL

My Dad Jack Scerca, built the Wing Dam in the 1970's. It took many years and incredible dedication on his part. I'm hoping to get the Wing Dam named after him as he risked his life at times to complete it. Dad was a WWII vet, having served in Patton's 91st Chemical Battalion.
I have all the papers, plans, etc. It was quite an undertaking. His grandsons and 4 great grandchildren live in Bucks County.
I would greatly appreciate it if anyone out there who could assist me in this endeavor would contact me. Thank you.

Hey Sondra... wondered if there was any progress on renaming the wing dam after your father?

It has taken 6 months of intense research to find out who actually owns the dam! Now it is on to writing letters and making the case as to why it should be named or memorialized for my dad. There is a plaque regarding the building of the dam, hanging in the conference room of the Delaware River Basin Authority with my father's signature. Now on to the task. Thank you for your interest. Let me know if you wish to be kept up to date.

Long time.. I never got back to thanking you for the update, nor if you made any progress... either way, best regards!
