Local Pond Life

I've had an injury that has sidelined me for most of the summer. It is true that our best fishing really is yet to come, with the finale of fluke, wandering weakfish, the movement of striped bass and bluefish, and of course the inshore migration of bigger tautog!

However, in the meantime, I'm getting my flyrod game back on at some local ponds.

I am also chasing what I refer to as "bigfoot", grass carp the size of small stripers that inhabit several of our ponds. Getting them to eat anything, especially a fly, will be a challenge. I have, however, observed some surface feeding behavior and if I can catch them in that zone, I have a shot of placing a little fly in their path. We'll see!
